Awful Credit Card: 1-2-3 Rewards

I was recently cornered in my neighborhood grocery store, and given an application for the Kroger 1-2-3 Rewards MasterCard. I was first kind of excited since I like to see new credit cards and possibly write about them, however after reading the terms I got very concerned that anyone would apply for such an awful credit card. I’ve been in the credit card industry for awhile and have seen many credit cards come and go, but this one needs to go away. The idea of having a credit card for a grocery store is valid, and if designed correctly could benefit many people. But this card provides no benefit to the customers what so ever.

Here is the example chart they provide on the site:

Given the chart above, you ONLY get $5 for every 1000 points earn. Spend $600 at the grocery store and Kroger will give you $5, or $1000 in groceries and get $10. Wow, that helps.

Other than these terrible rewards, this credit card provides you with the same perks as almost every other rewards program. (fraud protection, card replacement, no annual fee, etc.)

With all of the great reward credit cards out there, you can stay away from this awful credit card.

This credit card is issued by US Bank, which issues the same credit card for other retailers. This list is below.
