Back to the Junk Mail?

I was recently reading an article by Mintel Comperemedia that said approximately 1.2 billion offers for new credit cards were received by US consumers in Q3 2010. Now, compare that to the 391 million that were received in Q3 2009 and you can see that direct mail is on the rise. I’m sure that the credit card companies are being smarter about this, only targeting the “credit-worthy” consumers, but rest assure that you will probably start seeing that old stack of envelops in your mailbox again.

What does this mean for you?

Mintel also said that “eight in 10” of the offers sent are reward credit cards promoting points, miles, or cash-back consumers“, which means while comparing credit cards, you’re also going to have to figure out which rewards program will benefit you in the long run.

There are many great rewards programs out there and many good credit cards, even ones with annual fees. Take the time to do research online and see what other people are saying about the program. This makes me think of a funny commercial I saw just recently. See Below.
