Best Low Interest Credit Cards

The credit card issuers have created some very compelling low interest credit card offers. The time duration of the 0% offers have never been longer. Even when you go back a few years prior to the financial issues that the banks were facing, they never had offers such as the ones that you see on our website. They are now very profitable again and that means they have the flexibility to lend and grow their credit card portfolios. So now that these offers are available, how do you choose the best? You need to consider several things. One thing to consider is does the card have an annual fee? Unless the card is a credit card offering extraordinary rewards, the odds are against the card charging an annual fee. The cards that we have ranked as the best don't have an annual fee. You also need to consider the length of the balance transfer and purchase introductory rates. If you are not going to be transferring a balance, you may want to choose a card that has a longer 0% purchase rate. Finally we recommend that you consider the rewards and perks that the cards offer. While some cards offer really longer 0% introductory rates, others also offer rewards such as frequent flyer miles or cash back. There are also offers giving you a special cash back bonus just for using the card after you reach a certain amount spent. We took all of these factors into account when we created our rankings for the best low interest credit cards that we have listed above.

Do Fixed Low APR Credit Cards Exist?

The cards with low fixed interest rates have all but evaporated when the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009 was signed into law. The Credit Card Act limited what the issuers can an can't do with interest rates and really limited their ability to react appropriately with changing market conditions. To maintain some level of flexibility almost every issuer eliminated their fixed rate offers and move to a variable rate model. The 0% introductory rates on this site are fixed for the term of the offer as long as you continue to pay your bill on time.

Picking the Lowest Interest Rate Credit Cards

When comparing the credit cards with low interest rates, the card with the lowest APR might not be the best. You shouldn’t select your card on interest rates alone. You will want to take several card features into account such as annual fees, rewards, fraud protection, and online account management. When it comes to rates you will want to decide if making purchases or transferring a balance is more important to you. The reason for this is that the introductory periods differ for card to card on purchases and balance transfers. For example, if you are wanting to transfer a balance you would probably want to select a credit card with a 0% on balance transfers for 24 months and 0% for 6 months on purchases versus a card that is offering 12 months on both. The extra 12 months on the transfer will save you more money in interest. We took all these items and more into account when we created our list of the best low interest credit card offers.
