New American Express Backend

A little while ago American Express started beta testing a new credit card customer backend. As an American Express cardholder since 2000, I have thought they have needed one for awhile. The old and semi-current backend is way too cluttered and a bit overwhelming at times. Since I’ve been a member, American Express has made tweaks on a few other occasions, but not like the new one that’s in beta.

Current American Express Backend

As you can see in the screenshot below, the new beta American Express Credit Card backend is very easy to read and to the point. It’s clean and has large fonts so you can immediately see all your balances. Could this have something to do with people complaining that on their bills, it was hard to see what they owe? Maybe. Instead of having a bunch of promotional boxes, they now have a slider in the bottom right corner. I think American Express has realized that most customer login into the system to “check their balance” or “pay their bill” not to get hounded by a bunch of offers that are not related to their situation.

Beta American Express Backend

If you’re an American Express customer and like the current way of doing things, don’t worry American Express gives you a survey when you try the beta and then click on “Switch to Classic View” in the top right. Make your voice heard.
